Quirky Gifts for Poets and Poetry Lovers

So you gave the poet you love a thousand and one notebooks for their birthday already. Christmas is coming up, you start to sweat. Your loved one is still filling out the notebooks you gave them the previous year. They have the most beautiful pens to do that with. And yes, the holidays are all about love and spending time together, but we are here to save your arse all the same with some material goodies for your loved one. Here’s our list for Santa this year.

Our Ridiculously Pink Notebooks (or the vintage ones we also have)

Yes, we know, these are very pink, but so are baby pigs and everybody loves those too. If they’re too pink and you actually hate cats (no one can hate dogs) we also have some really nice vintage covers for your favourite poet with some smart arse labels on them. If the poet in your life is anything like us and their ideas are too big for 80-page notebooks, this 200-page fancy pancy notebook is just the thing they have been waiting for. The covers of these softcover journals are specially tailored to poets. There are eight different flavours, and they are all available here.

A Tote That Speaks the Truth and Nothing but the Truth

This tote is for those loved ones who are ready to embrace the truth. It’s of our own design, and purchasing one means you became somewhat of a patron to our poetry cause. This canvas tote bag is also a multi-functional masterpiece. Use it as a reusable grocery bag, for books or other goodies – wherever you’re going, bring it with you. The bag is 100% cotton canvas and is sized 15.5” long x 14.5” wide. Please don’t toss it in the washing machine, caus it will shrink to the size of a mosquito.

Available for our US poets here and our European poets here.

Shakespeare says cut the drama Shirt

We think Shakespeare is a little bit overrated, but he makes for a nice t-shirt design. This is for the poetry people out there with a sense of humour. Rock this funny shirt with your carefully styled dark academia outfit, or sleep in it and wake up as the coolest version of yourself every day.

An E-reader to save the rainforest

Even if you love paperbacks as much as we do, a Kindle is a nice way of taking all the books you need with you on holiday (do you remember those) or sampling a book before you stick it up a bookshelf, never to be touched again. This Kindle has a 167 ppi glare-free display that reads like real paper, even in direct sunlight. The battery is nothing like your phone’s battery, unless you use a brick as a phone; a single battery charge lasts weeks, not hours. It has an 8 GB storage, and you can highlight passages, look up definitions, translate words, and adjust text size—without ever leaving the page. Get yours here.

Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke

For nearly a century, eager writers and young poets, as well as those simply looking for a purpose in life, have embraced the wisdom of Rainer Maria Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet, first published in 1929. Most readers and scholars have long assumed that the letters from the young poet were forever lost to posterity. Yet, shockingly, these letters were recently uncovered in Germany. This timeless edition provides a new window into the workings of Rilke’s visionary poetic and philosophical mind, allowing us to re-experience the literary genius of one of the most inspiring works of twentieth-century literature. ‘There is a Monster inside my head’ by Beyond the Veil Press

"The work collected here feels like a journey through some of my darkest days. The visceral imagery and pared down language in Caitlan Docherty's 'Until Juices Run Clear' and Daniel Reyes 'Palpitations' bring out where the pain sits deepest in our bones and gristle. While poems such as `Bones' by Lilly Warren cradle a depth of feeling that is both subtle and starkly powerful. I felt each artist's beating heart and was humbled by a truly well-crafted anthology." - Holly Ruskin. There is a monster inside my head that I am learning to love is a poetry anthology focussing on mental health awareness. It is featuring 35 poets and artists from around the globe.

Their Book in Print

Does your loved one have ten thousand almost finished manuscripts lying around in your flat, and is it time to take the next step? We are poets ourselves, and we know how daunting the publishing process might be. That’s why our boss lady Rebecca created some services we think fits all poets who aspire to hold their books in their hands. Besides poets, we are also a bunch of idealistic dreamers, and we don’t believe dreams should be defined by the size of a wallet or a mismatch with an editor. By donating a portion of our free time to help you print your book, we are able to help almost any aspiring author by keeping our prices low. Learn more here.
