Editing

Tier 1: Proofreading

Our proofreading service is designed to help poets ensure their manuscript is polished and error-free. Our basic proofreading service includes a minimum charge of €135 and a per-word rate of €1.12. Our Tier 1 service includes proofreading your book and also (free of charge) your synopsis, blurbs, and query letters. This service is perfect for poets who want to ensure their manuscript is grammatically sound and free of basic formatting errors.

Tier 2: Copy Edit

Our poetry copyediting service is designed to not only correct errors in your manuscript, but also provide suggestions for improvements to help you understand the strengths and weaknesses of your work and your writing.

Minimum Charge: €180

Per-Word Rate: €1.87 to €4.06

Our Tier 2 service offers a range of copyediting options to meet the specific needs of our clients. Whether you're looking for light, medium, or heavy copyediting, our team of professional editors will provide a complete copyedit tailored to your needs. This service is perfect for poets who not only want their manuscript edited, but also want to learn how to improve in the future.

The service includes a Text Analysis report, which involves extracting your manuscript and analyzing all of its words. This process helps you understand your own text redundancies, writing patterns, and areas of weak prose. Basic fact-checking is included, and in-depth fact-checking and/or research assistance can be added for an additional hourly charge.

A free proofread of your synopsis, blurbs, and query letters is also included (maximum of 2,000 words). A Professional Evaluation can be added to your copyedit at 25% off the normal price. And you can add a separate proofreading round to your copyedit at 25% off the normal price.

The fee includes one manuscript submission unless an additional proofreading round is selected. The per-word rate range covers varying poets' abilities. A final rate decision will be made after the sample edit, based on the condition of the writing.

If you choose to do extensive rewriting of your manuscript after your Tier 2 copyediting has been completed, you may resubmit it for copyediting or proofreading with sections flagged for re-editing. Additional submissions are billed at €40/hour for copyediting or €30/hour for proofreading, prorated by the quarter hour after the first hour.

If you would like the option to rework and resubmit your manuscript an unlimited number of times during the editing process, at no additional charge, our Tier 4 service may be right for you.

Tier 3: Developmental Edit

Our Developmental Editing service for poetry manuscripts is designed for poets who wish to obtain a thorough assessment of their work, receive suggestions for improving weak areas, and gain a deeper understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of their poetry.

Minimum Charge: €450

Per-Word Rate: Starting at €3.76

Our Tier 3 service provides a comprehensive Professional Evaluation with expanded features that spotlight your poetry's themes, imagery, structure, and more. This service is perfect for poets who want to learn how to improve their work in progress.

Minimum Charge: €225

Per-Word Rate: Starting at €3.76

This service includes detailed guidance and feedback on your poetry. Each poem will be read carefully and returned to you with comments inserted that flag specific problems. The editor will choose one poem to receive a heavy edit. The types of edits made are determined by the issues your poetry has and may include cutting wordiness, rewriting awkward lines, highlighting redundancies and repetition, and/or other editorial issues.

An expanded Professional Evaluation will be returned that includes an in-depth analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of your poetry. The categories covered are imagery, structure, themes, and more. Detailed documentation, including suggestions and links for additional reading, when appropriate, will be provided in the Professional Evaluation or in the manuscript comments.

Material submitted for a Tier 3 Developmental Edit must be a complete poetry manuscript draft to gain the full benefits. This tier includes one submission. Extensive structural edits require a lot of time to complete, so be sure you have left enough time in your publishing schedule for both our work and the work you will need to perform after the developmental edit!

When the Tier 3 tasks are completed, a separate copyedit is strongly encouraged. A developmental edit does not focus on typos, wording, grammar, and other copyediting tasks, so errors may remain.

Tier 4: Full Package Edit

Our Full-Package Edit service for poetry manuscripts is designed for poets who wish to improve their work and gain a deeper understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of their poetry.

Minimum Charge: €900

Per-Word Rate: Starting at €6.84 (Unlimited Resubmissions!)**
